The game has been said to take place in a “dark future in 2077 where advanced technologies have become both the salvation and the curse of humanity.”
This has gamers incredibly excited since John Mamais Head of Studio CDPR recently stated, “The Witcher 3 was done with only a fraction of the team we’re building to make Cyberpunk a reality. We’re growing like crazy, but rapid growth doesn’t in any way diminish the spirit of cooperation we all value — it takes all of us together to make CD PROJEKT RED”
They also stated that CDPR team now consists of more than 450 people.
The award winning studio was recently granted over 7 million dollars from the Polish government. CD Projekt Red plans to use the grant towards research into seamless multiplayer, cinematic feel, animation excellence and city creation, with the latter focusing on “cities of great scale based on the principles of artificial intelligence and automation”. While it isn’t specified which games this research will benefit, it’s a safe bet that the city creation and seamless multiplayer will go into the studio’s forthcoming Cyberpunk 2077. If so, the game would be CD Projekt Red’s first multiplayer title.
